The Original Makeup Eraser Review
The Original Makeup Eraser Review

A chemical-free cleansing wipe? The Original Makeup Eraser* is a ultra soft cloth designed to remove every scrap of makeup without the need for a separate cleanser - just add water! It feels like those soft cleaning cloths we use to wipe off dust from surfaces... who would have thought you could use something like that to remove makeup?

I've got this in the shade pink. It also comes in pastel blue and black for choice. It is made of knitted polyester/silk fibres.

All you need to do is to soak the cloth in warm water and then magically wipe makeup away. I find it quickly, efficiently and easily does the job. It even removes mascara (although I have only tried it with the non-waterproof variety). Trust me, I used a cotton pad soaked in micellar water after using the Original Makeup Eraser and I hardly found any residual makeup. It's very gentle on the face even the delicate eye area. It is a lot more scratch-free than regular cotton pads. If your skin is particularly sensitive, this avoids the chemicals in regular cleansers.

Not so good things about this is the unsightly smearing of your makeup on your Original Makeup Eraser. I don't particularly enjoy seeing my makeup rubbing off on surfaces - I'm sure if this was in white, you would go crazy! For that reason the black one would probably be more preferable to the other two colours. It is also less disposable than a cotton pad. This you should wash (preferably machine-wash) between uses; you wouldn't want to be wiping your face on a dirty eraser the next time would you.

I think this product is perfect for those escapades when you don't want to lug around a separate jar of makeup remover, eg. a night on holiday, festivals or post-work out cleansing. Just stuff it in your bag and off you go!

Overall I love the idea of this chemical-free makeup remover, and for that I highly recommend the Original Makeup Eraser. Whoever thought of this is a genius!

Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Tonka Eau de Toilette Review
Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Tonka Eau de Toilette Review

I'm a big fan of the oriental Thierry Mugler fragrances, especially the gorgeous A*Men range. Though marketed for the male-folk, I find this range so vanilla-ry delicious that I've made a little collection for my own personal use. I do share them with my other half, ain't that handy? Hitting two birds with one stone. Thierry Mugler has recently released a new cologne, A*Men Pure Tonka, for 2016 and, with the promise of a tonka bean fragrance, this unsurprisingly made it to my collection!

Talking about the packaging first, it is housed in the typical flask with glossy black rubber. The translucent star is a beautiful rose-gold that allows you to view the bevel of product.

Thierry Mugler Cologne A*Men Pure Tonka is described as an oriental combination of tonka bean and fresh, aromatic lavender. It's main notes include delicious coffee, tonka and vanilla with touches of lavender, cacao, patchouli and licorice.

At first I thought its fragrance was too strong and musky, but with time it settles very well into that delicious mix of scents. I like wearing this on its own, or perfume layering with another favourite, YSL Black Opium. The sillage is not as heavy as the original A*Men Thierry Mugler for men, but I find it as long lasting. You can still smell traces of it up to 8-10 hours later!

Essie Gel Couture Collection Couture Curator Nail Polish and Top Coat Review Swatches

The Essie Couture Collection is here! I have stalked my local Boots shop once weekly for the last 4 weeks in anticipation of this collection, and I'm so excited its finally here. The collection is made up of 42 new shades (wow!) and the new formula with top coat is supposed to provide shiny nails a la gel nails in a bottle - no more UV. With the help of DH, I narrowed down my choice shade to one. Let's get to it.

Essie Couture Curator. This is a gorgeous light peachy pink with a creamy finish. It requires at least 2 to 3 coats to give a smooth opaque streak-free finish. It dries reasonably fast. I bet this shade flatters all skintones and makes a perfect girly summer shade.

Essie Top Coat. This top coat is meant to seal the deal and adds a little shine on to the nails. It's quite subtle, not as shiny as my favourite Seche Vite Top Coat.

The shape is quite odd, a little spiral shaped. The bottle is larger in size compared to the original Essie nail polishes, which makes storage a bit awkward, although both contain 13.5ml of product. I love the wide brush that comes with these products. It just makes application quick and easy.

Overall I enjoy the new collection and remain excited about all the new pretty colours. I've got my sights set on Essie Sew Me Nail Polish from the Essie Gel Couture Atelier Collection. One of these days it will join my nail varnish horde.

MAC Slipper Orchid Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Lipstick Review Swatches

I am so excited about MAC's summer release of matte liquid lipsticks from the MAC Transformed Collection - the Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours. These are beautiful opaque liquid lipsticks that dry into a velvety matte finish. In this review I'm gushing about a particular shade, MAC Slipper Orchid Lipstick.

MAC Slipper Orchid Lipstick. What a cute lipstick name. This shade is described by MAC as a "bright plum". I think of it more of a hot pink that's slightly on the fuchsia side. Its not as bright as MAC Candy Yum Yum lipstick. It's perhaps similar to MAC Flat Out Fabulous Lipstick from the permanent collection. My DH has been trying to get me back on to the bright pink lipstick bandwagon this summer, and I think this lipstick should do the trick.

With the velvety finish, these retro matte lipsticks do need a good prep in order to look decent. To make it work, I scrub off any dead skin flakes with Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub, and apply a lip balm or primer. I have found success with MAC Prep and Prime Lip. A cheaper alternative would be the minty Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue. Make sure you apply a decent layer (and don't wipe off!). The product comes with a doe foot applicator which can make application a bit tricky if you don't quite memorise your vermilion border just yet. What you can do to overcome this is apply a generous dab in the centre and spread with a ring finger. It works like a treat.

Overall I'm enjoying my new MAC Slipper Orchid Lipstick. This will undoubtedly be a summer fave!
