MAC Where No Man Has Gone Before Lipstick |
I must admit, I am not a Trekkie, but when I saw the release deets of this collection on the internet, I felt that after years of staying true to creams and mattes, perhaps its time to try out shimmer on the lips again. I passed on the bold brave yellow, champagne and purple lipsticks and decided to go for the coral of the collection, MAC Where No Man Has Gone Before lipstick.
MAC Where No Man Has Gone Before lipstick is a medium toned coral pink with a gold duochrome frost. If I were to compare it with existing lippies in the permanent line, it leans more coral than MAC Creme de la Femme Lipstick and it is lighter, more pink compared to MAC "O".
For a frost, I find this quite easy to wear. It's not too 'in your face', and with a clear gloss on top it just looks like a pretty shimmery lippy.
To be honest, this colour would work better if it were released in the heat of summer, but I will use it as my transitioning shade to when fall is properly here.
Digging through my pile of shimmery corals, I've swatched it next to those I felt might be quite similar.

It's been a while since I made proper comparison swatches and I was so pleasantly surprised I enjoyed this one, I should do them more often. I've dug up some old favourites - Cute-ster and Lollipop Loving - which were huge hits in the day I might add!
So compared to MAC Where No Man Has Gone Before lipstick, MAC Cute-ster Lipstick from the Hello Kitty collection is sheerer and lighter in colour. Kanebo T'estimo PK240 Lipstick is similar in shade but a bit sheerer with flecks of gold glitter. MAC Lollipop Loving Lipstick is lighter pink with a gold-green frost. MAC Sunny Seoul Lipstick is warmer in tone with less of a frost.

Overall I really like this lipstick. I think this shade is universally flattering. To make the pink stand out more, I would perhaps use a pink nude longwearing lip pencil, like Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Pencil, underneath to even out the base.
Have you picked up anything from the MAC Star Trek Collection? Do you wear frost finish lipsticks? Let me know in the comments below!
This collection has been everywhere and personally if I was more of a Star Trek collection I'd be all over it! It sounds that there's plenty of alternatives available though - I have Sunny Seoul and I loved it!

I completely agree. I don't quite see how the shades are meant to represent Star Trek but I suppose they took this chance to bring out the sparkles. This was the only thing that ImO stood out in this collection (if anything). I love Sunny Seoul too. Good choice! Xx
