MAC Peach Blossom, Saigon Summer, Coral Bliss and Sunny Seoul Lipsticks
MAC Peach Blossom, Saigon Summer, Coral Bliss and Sunny Seoul Lipsticks
If you have been a fan of MAC Cosmetics for as long as I have, you would know there have been at least two releases of MAC cremesheen lipsticks. The original had creamy lipsticks with no shimmers eg. the famous Shy Girl, Creme d' Nude and Creme Cup. The MAC cremesheen lipsticks I have here are from the second release the 'Cremesheen + Pearl' which are the more shimmery variety similar to lustres in finishes, semi-sheer to semi-opaque. The shades I have here are Peach Blossom, Saigon Summer, Coral Bliss and Sunny Seoul.

MAC Coral Bliss Lipstick is a true peachy pink coral shade. It is not too bright, perhaps a universal favourite.

MAC Peach Blossom Lipstick is a pinky nude with a hint of coral. It has more pink in it compared to Coral Bliss above.

MAC Saigon Summer Lipstick Review, Swatches

MAC Saigon Summer Lipstick is a bright orange, bordering on neon. With the moderately pigmented nature of cremesheens make this orange shade easy to wear compared to amplified finishes such as MAC Morange Lipstick.

MAC Sunny Seoul Lipstick is a mid-tone yellow pink with shimmers. When swatched it looks like a less intense version of MAC Chatterbox Lipstick.

While I do love every single one of these shades, I must say I do have my favourites. Which one do you like the best?

My MAC Cremesheen Lipstick Swatches

Leading up to my second big day which will take place in a hot and humid tropical paradise (see first big day makeup HERE), my obsession for trying to find the Holy Grail foundation has magnified exponentially. Promise me with a foundation with long-wear hold and I will try it. Having been a fan of the original MACPro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation, I was eager to try out this new waterproof version. Not that I go swimming in my makeup, but ho hey... Here's the review!

MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation

One thing that struck me about this foundation is how little product there is. It has 25ml per tube compared to 30ml for the original MACPro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation and 40ml for MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation. I have been assured however that this can be used for both foundation and concealer and lasts for 16 hours without touching up to make up for the amount of product. It will perhaps take a while before I finish a tube anyway.

The foundation has somewhat a thick gel like consistency similar to but thicker than MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation. It is easy to spread on the skin, I like using a damp sponge or warm fingertips. It dries moderately quickly with a medium skin-like coverage. You can easily add on another layer of product for a fuller coverage.

I find it can be unforgiving to dry patches and one must ensure well-moisturised skin. After a couple hours of wear I find my skin getting dryer and dryer, perhaps this is one to avoid in the cold winter months. At least it does keep shine off bay!

I would recommend this for oily skins with well-moisturised skin. I would suggest dry skin types to stay away from this foundation.

MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation Review

In this look I've incorporated my new makeup buys, an excellent way to try my new products all at once. Greedy, I know. I've opted for a natural look featuring rose pink shades for lips and cheeks.

Starting off with my primer and SPF in one, I slapped on Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Protect paying attention to my oily T-zone. Following this I applied MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation with my fingers- the warmth of my fingertips allowed blending of the product into the skin.

I lightly contoured my cheeks with Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder. Using a Real Techniques Multi-Task Brush I applied Tarte Exposed Blush to the apples of my cheeks. High on the cheekbones I placed some Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed.

I kept the eyes simple by lining some Maybelline Blue Eyestudio Liner just at the outer corners and blending into the lashline. The blue shade instantly makes eyes look wider awake by counteracting any redness of eye capillaries.

I used Maybelline The Colossal Go Extreme Mascara, the brush might be too huge for careless use. I had to wipe away some smudges with a qtip.

Finally moving to the lips I lined and filled them with MAC Whirl Lip Pencil for a pinky brown pout. I dabbed some Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue into the centre of my lips to make the lips look larger and luscious.

Tea Rose Lips & Cheeks

Beauty products trickle in towards my makeup drawer as they usually do. These products have found their way to my beauty collection the last few weeks.

With the temperatures rising (albeit fluctuating and slowly), I've been reaching out for glowy highlighters and my grubby hands have managed their way to Becca. I picked up these two which stood out to me the most. Opal provides such a beautiful almost metallic sheen that looks stunning in photographs where as Moonstone offers a more natural pale golden glow. I like applying this with the Real Techniques Fan Brush, Real Techniques Setting Brush or even with the fingertips high on the cheekbones. These are pretty difficult to find from the Space NK counters... You may want to stalk the SpaceNK website for availabilities.

Somehow my two favourite foundations for Giorgio Armani and NARS have been found to be in their last drops so I have purchased some back ups for when they inevitably run out. I've picked up NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Punjab as my previous shade match. I was re-matched at the Giorgio Armani counter however and was surprised at the results - I was given Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 3.5. I had been wearing 6 all this time, which I did know at the back of my mind that it was at least 2 shades darker than my skintone, so I usually wear that for a faux lets-pretend-I've-been-on-holiday tan.

I've had my first foray into Tarte with this blush in Exposed. My sister Shannon kindly picked this up for me from the Sephora in California. Exposed is a matte midtone rose pink. It's not the easiest to apply, it can feel a little hard on the pan so I recommend applying and building up the intensity to what you desire, but its wear is impressive. It's one of those blushes that last on your cheeks til the end of the day despite your face eating up foundation. I am impressed and am looking forward to trying another shade.

Hidden behind the blush is my new makeup sponge, the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This small orange sponge allows natural application of makeup. I would spritz some Avene Eau Thermale to make application a bit more fluid and easier to blend. It is well contoured to fit the sides of the nose. I have been enjoying foundation application with this although it does take more time than just using the Louise Young LY34 Super Foundation Brush.

I also picked up MAC Morange Lipstick for a little pop of colour and the new limited edition MAC 126SE Brush for powder applications from the MAC Wash and Dry Collection, you can read my thoughts on those HERE.

Summer Makeup Haul - Becca, NARS, Tarte, MAC and more!

MAC Morange Lipstick & MAC Golden Rinse Bronzer Review Swatches
MAC Wash and Dry Collection Review Swatches

Summer collections from MAC always excite me. They are always so full of warm tones and bronzes that complement my olive complexion. I have here a few bits from the MAC Wash and Dry Collection - a lipstick, a bronzer and a brush to share with you today.

MAC Morange Lipstick is an existing colour in the MAC Pro range and I am happy to have it in this colourful limited edition packaging. It is a vibrant reddish orange. Since parting ways with my old favourite orange - MAC Electro Lipstick, I've been thinking about picking up another with a similar shade. Admittedly I need some courage to bust out this bright colour, although the creamy shimmer-free texture makes it much easier to wear. I would dab this on the lips to make a luscious orange pout. You can also mix this with true reds to make them warmer. This is a versatile orange lipstick, if there is such a thing!

MAC Golden Rinse Bronzing Powder. There are 4 different bronzers in this collection, two have been repeated in every summer release, and two are unique to this collection. This peachy bronze has a beautiful texture, it has subtle shimmers. On the cheeks this warms up the complexion and looks so beautiful! I think I will make a la Bobbi Brown and use this bronzer where she believes it should be - on the cheeks. I think this is too orangey to use all over the face or as a contour. There are other MAC bronzers for that purpose.

MAC 126SE brush. This is simply irresistable. Wonderfully soft two faced flat brush, perfect for face powders. I think I will give my Real Techniques Multi Task Brush a break for the meantime. This is bigger better and faster to use for powder application. I'm glad to have it.

MAC Wash and Dry Collection Review Swatches

I rushed after work to attend the Stylist's Meet and Greet event with Bobbi Brown and Kate Upton last week, did any of you go there too? It was my first time to meet the great Bobbi and I was very keen to hear her voice, thoughts and a glimpse into the inspirational life she leads.

It is Bobbi's 25th year of working in the industry this year and with all her experience she's developed her belief of feeling good and empowering yourself.

I love hearing about people's pasts and origins. She recollected an early experience where she a young girl went to a makeup counter and was criticised for her features (thin lips, deep set eyes), leaving the counter feeling worse than when she went in. This is perhaps a story that would resonate with most of us.

She's found inspiration in a beauty icon with similar features to hers, Ali MacGraw, famous for her brown eyes and straight brown locks; very different from today’s fake tanned blue-eyed blondes.

Now I realize why her makeup range is often about the same neutral, semi-sheer shades. Her makeup is all about ‘natural beauty’, making the most of what you have and celebrating it. She absolutely hates contouring as it ‘changes’ your features, hence there isn’t and probably wouldn’t be one of those ‘limited edition contouring collections’ from Bobbi Brown.

She is 58 and attributes her youthful looks to a healthy lifestyle. She drinks plenty of water and loves to walk for exercise. She carries food supplements and trainers in her bag to use at every opportunity.

When asked about her choice of model and muse, she admires Kate Upton’s healthy body image, that she is not the typical skinny supermodel. She looks after herself well and works out four times a week with boxing or yoga.

Her favourite products include her corrector which gives the appearance of having the extra hours of sleep as well as her extra balm which removes makeup, rehydrates and revitalizes the skin.

As well her full time job with an international beauty brand, she also looks after her three sons. I can't imagine what her life must be like, what a superwoman!

Congratulations Bobbi Brown on your 25th year in beauty and please continue to inspire women all over the world!
