Cult favourite beauty brand NARS cosmetics makes some of the best products in the beauty world. I'm sure most beauty afficionados would have a thing or two from NARS in their makeup collection. Every time NARS brings out a new product, new formulation or new collection, the release is always met with anticipation of a probable next HG (holy grail) item.
In line with this, since hearing about the new release of NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation I was excited to try it out. One of my favourite foundations is from NARS (NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - impeccable for photography, but it does need touching up in the 6 hour mark).
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation promises weightless coverage, 16 hour wear, highly pigmented formula that builds and blends with just one drop, natural looking coverage.
Here are my first impressions. Let's see how it fares shall we?
The Packaging
The Formula
The foundation itself has a very thin runny watery consistency that reminds me of the L'oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation but in terms of pigmentation it is far more condensed and concentrated.
The runny formula allows it to be easily blended into the skin with the fingers. Buffing brushes and foundation brushes would work well too.
It does not just sit on the skin like most foundations do, rather it blends in well and looks natural. It feels so light on the skin that I even forget I am wearing foundation!
The Pigmentation
It has a well-pigmented formula that is sufficient for light veil of colour all over the face in a single pump. Two pumps for medium coverage and three pumps for even more. It builds well and does not look cakey at all.
The Effect
Applied the effect is a matte finish with a subtle glow. No sparkles but it appears like you're lit from within. Like most long-wearing formulas the formula of this foundation is a bit on the drying side. I am not kidding - it will make dry patches appear as flakey as baklava. Skin prep with some gentle exfoliation and moisturisers is important.
The Wear
The foundation begins to break up on my oily nose around the 5-hour mark, and on my cheeks around the 8-hour mark without setting with powder. Despite its claims for 16 hour wear, I doubt I'll ever require my foundation to last this long, and I am already pretty happy how long this lasts. I am a 'set-your-foundation-with-powder' type of gal and I'm sure the wear will even be better. My tolerance for wearing makeup for 16 hours straight is probably not the best and I will not challenge that...
The Verdict
I love this foundation and perhaps will be using it this week. This foundation is definitely competing with MAC Pro Longwear Foundation for its spot for my long hour shifts. Have you got a warm holiday destination in mind? I am sure NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation will be the perfect companion.

I really like the sound of this and the fact that it comes with a pump is much better!
