The Weekly Makeup Edit #06

This week's edit is about the subtle no makeup makeup look combined with long-wearing bases to combat oiliness and shine brought about by the surging unregulated central heating temperatures at work.

To prep my skin, I spritz a couple pumps of Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Water Spray to provide hydration. I leave that on the skin for thirty seconds and follow with Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer using a Louise Young LY34 Super Foundation Brush. This giant foundation brush makes application of the tinted moisturizer so easy, streak-free and most importantly quick! It only takes about a minute for a full face application.

To cover dark circles, I used MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer in NW20, applied and blended with the fingers. To set and mattify the bases, I dusted MAC Blot Powder all over the face.

I applied blush and contour from my custom MAC Pro blush palette. The contour shade on the top left is MAC Taupe Blush that suits my NC30 skin perfectly. The blush shades I have in rotation. Having all of them in a palette makes it so easy to use and decide on colours on the day.

For highlighter, I have been using none other than my favourite MAC Pearl Cream Colour Base high up on the cheekbones.

I have kept the eyes simple this week with simple black eye liner and black mascara.

So that's a run through of my favourites this week that have impressively controlled my oily T-zone. Of course at the 8 hour mark I needed some blotting but otherwise I'm happy with it.

Have you made any good makeup discoveries this week?

  1. I finally caved a bought Nars' Radiant Creamy Concealer this week, even though I've loved the Collection one for so long! I have to say though, it was totally worth the purchase!
    Great post! xo
