It's the weekend and for once I had a lot of time on my hands to have a play with a few new makeup goodies I picked up over the last month. This also meant I had enough time if I had to fix up any disasters if it came to it (win!). I had several surprises while doing this look, good surprises, products I feel will become new favourites for the next few weeks and I'm so excited to share them with you. So this post will be part FOTD and part 'haul review' and overall 'rave post'... Be warned..!
I went into another foundation hauling phase and decided to pick up my shade match of L'oreal Lumi Magique Foundation. If your skin colour is close to mine (MAC NC25-30), then your shade match would be W3 Gold Linen. I used my favourite Real Techniques Buffing Brush to apply this foundation in circular motions, and I must say I am in-love with the finish. It blends well with the skin, does not particularly stick to dry patches. It is unlike other foundations which just sit on the skin (Bare Minerals BareSkin Foundation, I'm talking to you!) but rather a lot like my current favourite Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, although of course at a third of the price! Lumi Magique is more brightening and of a satin finish than GA which applies more matte. But for the feeling on the skin and coverage, I think they are very comparable. A huge plus in my books!
To cover up dark circles, I used MAC Select Cover Up Concealer in NW20. I must admit this has been sitting neglected in my collection since my trip to America, and I then wondered why I ever left it alone? It feels lightweight yet provides a good medium-full coverage and another plus is that it blends so perfectly well AND dries quickly too. It doesn't settle into eye wrinkles as much as NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I believe I've found my new favourite concealer for undereye circles and will purchase the right shade for blemishes. Swatch this in the MAC store and try it out - it's amazing!
I set my face with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus (mine is still in the old-style packaging, I still can't believe MAC have repackaged these. I'm a creature of habit and I'm having trouble getting used to the new ones). I then dusted some Illamasqua Katie Blush on the apples of the cheeks and applied NARS Laguna Bronzer to lightly sculpt my face.
Moving on to the eyes, I picked up the Laura Mercier Mini Caviar Stick Eye Colour Quartet a while back. These are a set of four super creamy eye pencils. They are easy to apply and a dream to blend. Once dried, they last the whole day on the lids! I used Laura Mercier Mini Caviar Stick Eye Colour Cocoa in today's look, which is rich chocolate bronze. I applied it straight onto the lower lids and then blended upwards with the fingers. Easy peasy day-time smokey eye look.
I proceeded to rim the eyes with Charlotte Tilbury Sophia The Classic Eye Liner for a soft brown line, applied my favourite Kiss Ever-EZ Lashes 01 and some mascara.
I filled in my lips with Kardashian-favourite MAC Subculture Lip Pencil followed by Lancome Juicy Tube applied with the fingers for a semi-glossy nude pout.
I hope this post was useful. Make sure to shop from Space NK and Boots to collect those points.. a little goes a long way. Now over to you, have you tried any of these products I used in this look?
