Bourjois is one of those UK drugstore brands that continuously shells out high quality products at affordable prices. They never fail to please! The Bourjois Java Rice Powder is a reformulation of the original Java Rice powder released about 150 years ago popularised yet again today!
This powder is housed in a gorgeous vintage style design with a plastic mint green exterior, a modern version of the old packaging. It looks fabulous on my vanity.
Once opened, it reveals a phloof of the loose powder and underneath is a sifter to help control the application. This however can be a bit of a problem to travel with and I actually prefer pressed powders as this can be a bit of a faf. This product is best confined at home where you have more control and safer from spillage. But if you're a loose powder expert, it shouldn't be a problem.
Past the messiness, this powder is a light cream with a pink hue that is luminous and shimmery. On the skin it imparts a subtle glow. I would only apply this with a light hand on areas where I feel necessitates a little bit of a highlight such as my cheekbones or brightening underneath the eyes to set concealer. But if you want an overall sparkly vampire like glow you can apply it to the entire face.
It feels really light and fine-milled. It does not dry out the skin neither does it control oil. It is lightly scented with a fragrance that resembles vintage sweets.
It makes a fantastic highlighter and I would recommend this for fellow makeup addicts experienced in the art of loose powders. You can also pick it up to adorn your makeup vanity and don't worry -- I won't judge!
