The HAIRoine - Leonor Greyl PARIS L'Huile de Leonor Greyl Beautifying Oil Review!

Do you suffer from dry lifeless hair?

Extremes of weather, whether the windy cold air of winter or the harsh sun rays of summer, have the potential to dry out hair causing brittleness and split ends. Voted as the Best Hair Care Product of 2013 by the Madame Figaro Prix Beaute Stars' Jury, the Leonor Greyl PARIS L'Huile de Leonor Greyl Beautifying Oilis a pre-shampoo oil that is meant to moisturise hair to protect it from dryness. Keep reading for my review!

When I received this product in the post, it looked like this:

Solidified!

I thought, 'What on Earth?...'

Then I came back to reality and remembered it was an oil-based product + this winter = solidified oil.

I put my thinking cap on and decided to put it in a cup of warm water:

Cup from Whittard & Chelsea

I left it in there for about 15 minutes, and it decided to melt back into its liquid form. Bravo!

When it all melted, I took it out of my lil cup and read this -- see advice at the bottom:

Oh well! Now back to the review!

Leonor Greyl PARIS L'Huile de Leonor Greyl Beautifying Oil* is one of those multi-purpose cult beauty products in the market. Used as a leave-on conditioner, it is a very light oil that acts very well to control frizzy strands and provide moisture to dry hair. It is easily absorbed and doesn't make hair feel oily, rather my hair is well conditioned - left smooth and silky.

It can be used as a pre-treatment for shampoo. The hair ends are where the strands need more nourishment, so I suggest concentrating the application onto the ends to correct the splits. I suggest avoiding applying this on the scalp as this area does not often need much moisturising -- unless you suffer from a dry scalp. I would leave it on for about 20 minutes in a warm towel, and then wash it off with shampoo. Using this once a week leaves my hair softer, shinier, thicker, healthier!

It has a nice powdery smell, a little musky, flowery. A little like old-fashioned perfume, but personally I don't mind it!

Although I can't attest to this well at this present season, I have heard this is also great on the warmer summer days to protect hair from being fried by the sun, eg. the beach season or days spent by the pool. This also protects hair from water - which is good against salt water and chlorinated pools. Very good for swimmers!

The only thing I don't like about it is the bottle. Very french, but very impractical. I prefer a pump applicator like my L'oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil, which I am currently trying to finish. Because this product has a vulnerable open cap, I worry about spilling the oil sometimes so I make sure to put it on a sturdy surface. If you're worried, you can always buy a pump separately!

I admit, it is quite pricey. Leonor Greyl PARIS L'Huile de Leonor Greyl Beautifying Oil* costs £25 for 95ml, but a little goes a long way, and with my long hair used as a pre-shampoo treatment once a week, it will perhaps last a year!
