MAC Maleficent Collection Colour Story!

After months of anticipation, we now have the MAC Maleficent Collection Colour Story! This 14-product collection is based on the upcoming Disney movie Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie. It features MAC lashes, 3 nail polishes, prep and prime, red lips and a neutral eyeshadow quad. Keep reading for more information!

Nail Lacquer in Nocturnelle, Flaming Rose, Uninvited
Prep + Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast (permanent)
Eyebrow Pencil in Fling (permanent)
Penultimate eyeliner in Rapidblack (permanent)

MAC Pro Sculpting Powder in Sculpt (repromote)
MAC Lashes in 36 & 30

MAC Beauty Powder in Natural

MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass in Anthurium (LE)
MAC Lipstick in True Love's Kiss (LE)
MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Kiss Me Quick (permanent)

MAC Eyeshadow Quad with eyeshadows: Ground Brown, Carbon, Goldmine, Concrete (all available from permanent collection)

I'm surprised to find so many of these products to be available in the permanent line or from pro stores, with the difference being these are in limited edition packaging and will probably be a bit more expensive due to additional rights with the Disney collaboration etc. Out of all of these, I'm looking forward to picking up Sculpt in the limited edition packaging and perhaps check out True Love's Kiss lipstick just because of the adorable name!

I know a lot of us were expecting purples from this collection, like a new purple lippie, but perhaps they will be released in other future collections like the MAC Kelly and Sharon Osbourne Collection? I like how this collection has a lot of wearable neutrals, but I can't help but feel that this has been too safe and with all the permanent products this highly anticipated collection could be a let down for some.

Any thoughts so far? What do you think of the packaging?

  1. I can't wait to see the movie! I think the packaging is alright. I'm dying to see a swatch of that lipstick. I love the name.

  2. I expected a bit more with the packaging, stamping it with the logo is a bit bland. I use to love their limited edition stuff because the packaging was always super cute - Mac Disney Villains was one of my faves!

I like the eye pallette colours but yeah why is nearly everything just permanent lines?
Boo, let down MAC :( x
