A Crime of Passion - NARS Guy Bourdin Eye, Cheek and Lip Palette Review, Swatches

Here's a pretty NARS Palette for you from the NARS Guy Bourdin Collection. This neutral-themed palette contains a lip gloss, 3 eyeshadows, 1 blush and 1 bronzer all housed in one compact. These are also my first NARS eyeshadows as I have only tried the famous NARS Laguna Bronzer and NARS blushes in the past, see my post on the top 10 NARS blushes to try before you die. Keep reading for my reviews on the NARS A Crime of Passion Eye, Cheek and Lip Palette from the Guy Bourdin Collection.

First Impressions

My first impressions were that this palette is quite chunky and it does make a clunky noise if shaken, which I find a bit unsettling. I like how an entire makeup look is housed in one place, but I don't appreciate the bulkiness of it too much as it requires a larger makeup bag to store in for on the go.

The individual shades

NARS Deep Throat Blush
NARS Deep Throat Blush (permanent) is one of my favourite NARS blushes, which I have reviewed in depth here. It is a pigmented peachy pink that gives the perfect natural flush on the cheeks. This mini blush is good for on the go. It is a permanent shade, available in the usual pan size.

NARS Laguna Bronzing Powder
NARS Laguna Bronzer (permanent) is a brown powder with golden shimmer. NARS Laguna Bronzer is a versatile bronzer due to its more neutral grey-toned hue as opposed to the reddish NARS Casino Bronzer and works well on medium olive skintones. I used to have this in the normal pan size but I gave it away when I discovered my HG Benefit Hoola Bronzer

NARS Deep Throat Larger Than Life Lip Gloss
NARS describes NARS Deep Throat Larger Than Life Lip Gloss (limited edition) as a shimmering sheer peachy pink, which is pretty much an apt description. It is quite sticky, which is something I do not like in lip glosses, so this gloss is something I will probably not use too often. I will probably give it away. NARS Deep Throat Larger Than Life Lip Gloss is a limited edition shade.

NARS Jezebel Eyeshadow
NARS Jezebel Eyeshadow (limited edition) is described as a shimmering sable with light golden sparkles. When swatched, it actually resembles a shimmery light cream more than sable that makes a good eye lid shade, highlight for under the brow bone, or applied in the inner canthus of the eyes for a bright-eyed look. The texture is good and easy to apply, not as smooth as I expected however.

NARS Naïade Eyeshadow
NARS Naïade Eyeshadow (limited edition) is described as a metallic rose mist. It is a medium toned reddish brown with some pinky red sparkles. It is not so metallic (which is a good thing!) and can be used as a lid colour or to shade the crease.

NARS Pandora Eyeshadow
NARS Pandora Eyeshadow (limited edition) is described as a rich matte black and that's exactly what it is. I like how it is easy to control the intensity of application and not too 'dry' unlike MAC Carbon Eyeshadow. A good one to apply on the crease or as a liner on the lashlines.

Here are swatches:

Overall, I think this is a good palette for neutral eyeshadow and peach blush lovers. The shades they've picked are versatile and easily wearable. I just wish they hadn't included such a sticky lipgloss, perhaps a peachy hued lip pencil would have been better. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below!

  1. Thanks for the great review Livia!

I kept picking this up and putting it down at Mecca but I never really gravitate towards the special edition NARS for some reason!

    Eat. Live. Love. Repeat.

  2. Love the colours!! They are very versatile :)
