There were two brushes in this collection, and despite my already huge collection of brushes, I could not resist walking away with at least one of them. With baby pink handles and bristles matched with a rose-gold ferrules, these are a such treat for the eyes! I picked up the MAC 187SE brush (SE simply stands for special edition). I use stippling duo-fibre brushes on a daily basis to set my foundation/concealer, and sometimes I also use them to apply blush, so I thought why not pick this one up as I will definitely use it anyway. I have compared it to the permanent MAC 187 brush below, keep reading!
MAC 187 Brush, MAC 187SE Brush
MAC SE brushes have the reputation of being substandard in quality compared to their large, original counterparts, however with this SE brush, I don't think that is the case.
The bristles of this 187SE are nice and soft. They are not scratchy at all. They also tend to retain their shape after being flexed.
The 187SE brush tends to fan out a little less than the MAC 187, but perhaps this could be because it is new and has not had as much wear!
The brush itself is very aesthetically pleasing and does not appear tacky (at least not to my eyes). The bristles of the SE brush are light pink as opposed to white.
Overall, I am very pleased with this and I am happy to recommend it!
Thoughts on the MAC 282SE Duo Fibre Brush - the other one:
I had a quick look at this brush when I was deciding between the two, and I think the quality of the SE version isn't that great. The bristles themselves were not arranged meticulously enough so that the black bristles mixed up with the white ones, and overall it didn't appear very nice. Hence, I decided to pass up on that one.
