I have been battling the late afternoon oily forehead for the last few years, which I fix by using MAC Oil Control Lotion before applying makeup or by adding more face powder (my MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus). Blot papers are just too fussy for me to use... The Oil Control Lotion becomes a bit of a hassle to use early in the morning because it doesn't have SPF and so I have to wear an additional sunblock moisturiser. While reapplying my face powder, often have I thought 'this is getting cakey.. but better powdery than oily' (which honestly still doesn't look too nice!). SO I finally decided to try something new... Enter MAC Blot Powder!
MAC Blot Powder is a face powder designed to absorb excess oils without adding colour or cakey-ness. It's ingenious really. You can apply it at the beginning of the day as a preventative measure or apply it onto oily areas (eg. the T-zone: forehead, nose, chin) to get rid of the shine. MAC only had the loose powder version for a while, and I'm thrilled that they now have it in fuss-free pressed powder form.
It comes with a mirror and a flat powder puff, which are handy for on-the-go.
I have never used the powder puff though, as it feels a bit unhygeinic and it absorbs too much powder. I've been using a large duo fibre stippling brush like the MAC 187 brush instead!

I like using this with a face brush instead of the pad that comes with it, I noticed it would sometimes leave me streaky when I was really oily. My fav MAC oil control product though is the loose blot powders!
ReplyDeleteI actually really love this product. I'm almost done with it (it's one of my P10P items) and it works like an angel. I use a Sigma F80 brush to apply it, and it works like a dream.
ReplyDeleteawesome review. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good product. My other fave is Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder.
ReplyDeletehaha thats true. its supposed to not be pigmented but it comes in varied shades. :D
ReplyDeleteI don't really get oily, so I never have a problem with blotting powders (I don't even own one). But oh well.. xD
ReplyDeleteYou lucky gal!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Strange. Haha.
ReplyDeleteWhen I've almost run out of this one, I'll check out the Bobbi Brown one! Thanks for the suggestion! :) xx
ReplyDeleteThanks! x
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you like this one too. I think it will become one of my staples. I use the MAC 187 brush to apply it!
ReplyDeleteI've heard many good things aobut the loose blot powders, but its just too messy for me though. This pressed form seems perfect for me! :)
ReplyDeletei'd like to try this, been oily on my t-zone lately! usually dry but it's acting up for whatever reason. go away shine
ReplyDeleteI have it and i like it! it does help to reduce shine on my Tzone... Cover girl's oil control powder(new) is a cheaper alternative !
