On another note, I just arrived in California last night to visit my sister, and I had such a bad experience with the Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight from Manila to LA. I arrived a whole day late! There was so much disappointment.

I would like to share my experience with you so that incase someone was thinking about going with PAL, you would know what I have been through.

(I just took this photo from google, I am not affiliated with the Akbayan Party)

I was supposed to be on the 10:30 PM flight last Saturday. I bought this ticket with the assurance that I would arrive on time and on the same day with the help of the difference in time zones, to be able to spend the entire Sunday with my sister.

So I boarded the plane at 9 PM but was stuck on it for 3-4 hours because apparently there had been a technical problem and they couldn't resolve it in that time. Later I found out that we were on the oldest plane PAL had, which was even more disturbing.

By midnight they finally realised that we wouldn't be able to fly, so they promised to book us all in hotels either the 'Sheraton' or the 'Dusit' - which were 4-5 star hotels. They also promised to reschedule the flight for  1:30PM on the next day (Sunday!!).

So at around 1AM, I got on one of the buses, along with 40 other people, where they would bring us to one of the said hotels, but instead they brought us to 'Bay View' Hotel, which is literally probably a 2 star hotel, a 3 at max! Heck I didn't even have a window in my room. My shower was like a dorm shower, my cabinets had peeling paint and dusty.

I barely had any sleep and I was called at 7AM to be told that check out was at 10:30AM and the bus was going to pick us up at 11AM to bring us to the airport. I had breakfast, which was just okay but at least complimentary, and checked out at 10:30AM as scheduled, but waited for the bus to arrive. By 11AM the bus still was not there and the planned time of departure was at 1:30PM. Everyone was becoming anxious.

The bus finally arrived at 1PM - so how we were definitely not flying on time - again! We arrived at the airport at 2PM - there was no one around to guide us through the queues. After two baggage scans and a thorough check (they even go through your ENTIRE hand carried luggage - down to the contents of your purse!), I managed to get on my seat at 3PM. The plane took off at around 4PM.

Instead of arriving at 8PM on Saturday, I arrived at 3PM on Sunday, and got to my sister's house at 7.30PM. The entire day wasted. I bought the ticket because I thought it was the quickest way to get to my sister as it was the only direct flight available, but in retrospect if I bought the other airlines with a single stopover, I would still have arrived earlier, without all the disappointment.

If you are planning to fly between the USA and Manila, I advise you do NOT take Philippine Airlines.
They are SO unreliable and they are literally a waste of time and money.
I will NEVER fly with PAL to the States ever again.

I hope this helps anyone planning to book a Manila-LAX flight in the near future.

  1. I really liked Sam's! It seemed the most wearable out of them all :)

  2. Sam Faier looks gorgeous : D

  3. What a shame about your flight?! So frustrating glad you got there in the end =D. I love the idea od a pigment layered on top of a lippie for a 'velvet effect'. Great post.
