This is China Glaze in Dorothy Who?. 2 coats; no base coat or top coat. Its a medium blue with silver sparkles, and came out with the China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection. I wore this last week, but I wanted to wait at least a week or until I got some polish chipping so I can share a good review with you all :)

I'm really impressed with China Glaze Dorothy Who?. The nail polish has a gel feel to it and applies easily. I was a bit alarmed that it was streaky with the first coat, but it evened out with a second. It dries quickly and it didn't stain my nails. It lasted 5 days until I got some tip wear. Amazing!

Although glittery nail polishes are notorious for feeling gritty and being difficult to remove, I had no such problems with Dorothy Who?. It didn't feel gritty at all. Although it wasn't a dream to remove, it wasn't as difficult as removing removing OPI Mad Hatter nail polish, which was hell!

This is the first China Glaze nail polish I've tried, and as you can see I did some China Glaze hauling in my previous post! I chose to wear this first to match the blue denim look I've been sporting during the week. I am in-love with this colour and this nail polish formula and I urge you to try it out if you haven't yet! ♥

What do you think of this? Would you wear it?? xx

China Glaze Dorothy Who?

EDIT: Added link to E-bay seller's store!

Hi everyone! I'd like to share with you my kind-a big China Glaze haul. I've been hearing good things about the nail polish brand and I don't know where they're sold in the UK (and if they were they would be really overpriced!) so I decided to purchase some from eBay.

I looked for sellers with high ratings (there are quite a few out there!) and I decided to purchase nail polishes from beautyzone2007. This seller has over 20 thousand positive feedback, and based on their service I can see why! It took 1 week for international shipping, and my items were well wrapped. Their prices are not bad either; 1 OPI/China Glaze nail polish for the price of a UK drug store nail varnish, already including shipping fees.

I had a few minor problems with them however. They sometimes list products they don't have in stock, and there seems to be an inconsistency with communication skills. Two of the items I initially chose weren't in stock. I just don't understand why they would list things they don't have. However they did offer to replace my orders with alternatives instead, and one of those I chose from their list of products wasn't available too! :s Then without asking whether I wanted something else, they sent me an immediate refund for the one they don't have, which I thought was a bit rude. I mean I could have wanted to choose something else right? They didn't email me either to tell me they'd sent the refund, I just got an email from Paypal saying I got a refund from Maggie whatshername, and how am I supposed to know who that was? I just worked it out from the amount they sent back that it was them. And later I had to confirm it with them myself. Also sometimes they would understand my emails and respond in correct English grammar, whereas other times they don't seem to.

But all these aside, I got my products in very good condition and quite quickly for an overseas order so I am very pleased and I am eager to buy more products from them. I recommend this seller. :)

And now onto my haul!

I searched Google for the most popular China Glaze nail polishes and came across a few amazing nail polish blogs such as All Lacquered Up, watched a few YouTube videos and among those mentioned I chose colours I thought I would actually wear. I searched for those items in the seller's eBay homepage and I chose the following...

Photobucket
China Glaze B-Girlz, Strawberry Fields, Ruby Pumps

Photobucket
China Glaze Preppy Pink, Good Witch?, Bare If You Dare

Photobucket
China Glaze For Audrey, Watermelon Rind, Dorothy Who?

From info online, Ruby Pumps, Dorothy Who? and Good Witch? are from the China Glaze Wizard of Ohh Ahz collection. Watermelon Rind and Strawberry Fields are from the China Glaze Summer Days collection. B-Girlz is from the Kicks collection, Preppy Pink is one of the China Glaze Glitters, and For Audrey is one of the core colours.

I will be posting up swatches and individual reviews as I use them. I'm really excited to wear them and share them with you! ♥

Have you tried China Glaze nail polishes? What are your favourites? I'd like some recommendations to try too! xx

China Glaze Haul & Ebay Seller Review

I noticed that my dark lipglasses have often been neglected, so I recently experimented using them on top of nude lipsticks. The results quite surprised and impressed me and I think I'll be getting more use out of my dark lipglosses from now on! This is one of the first combos I've tried, and it fits well with this spring's lavender lip trend!

All products I used for this lip combination are by MAC. I used Naked (LE) lip liner and Fleshpot (PRO) lipstick as a base - these two are soo meant for each other!! I used So This Season (LE) lipglass on top.

What do you think? Would you wear this lip?? ♥

Lip Swatch: Lavender Lips

OPI Thanks So Muchness

I've been using this nail polish this week. Its Thanks So Muchness by OPI from the Alice in Wonderland collection. Its a lovely red colour, its not glittery, but is a little bit 'metallic' in the sense that it shines a metallic red in the light. I really like it, and I've received a few compliments on wearing the colour too!

I'm really impressed with OPI nail polishes. They are easy to apply and dry quite quickly! Using them is like a dream. I've worn Thanks So Muchness for about 5 days now and its only starting to chip. My nails have grown as well so it will be time to change my nail polish soon!

Sorry about the state of my cuticles, I've been having problems with those lately. They dry easily and flake, and they hurt sometimes :( I think it may have something to do with wearing gloves in the lab as I am doing a lab-based research project now, but I'm not really sure, and I'm not really experienced in nail care, so if you have any suggestions on how I should take care of my nails and cuticles, please let me know in your comment below! I would really appreciate it. ♥

I'm starting to get into nails, and I'd love to try more nail polishes. What's your favourite nail polish? ♥

OPI Thanks So Muchness

Hi everyone! Its been a long time since I've last posted - last Sunday seems a long time ago for me lol. I've been busy with schoolwork and my bellydancing society at university. We were invited to perform a bellydance at the Hilton Hotel in Kensington last Tuesday, and this is the makeup I wore to the event! I wanted it to be slightly smokey, and not very costume-y, a very wearable look. I used one of my Maybelline eyeshadows, and one of the new MAC mineralized blush duos for this look too!! Enjoy! xx

I used:

EYES
MAC Soft Ochre paint pot (yellow-toned neutral, base)
MAC eyeshadows in Vanilla (white-cream, highlight), Cork (warm mid-tone brown, crease)
Maybelline eyeshadow in Iced Fudged (grey-taupe, lid) - I love this colour!! :)
MAC Black Russian pearlglide eyeliner (black with silver sparkles, upper and lower lashlines)
L'oreal eyelash primer
Maybelline mascara
MAC Spiked brow pencil

FACE
MAC Prep n Prime Face
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation
MAC Select Moisturecover concealer
MAC Mineralized skinfinish natural
MAC Sun and Moon mineralized blush duo (peachy bronze)
MAC Pearl Cream colour base (highlight)

LIPS
MAC Possum Nose Pink lipglass (cherry red)

I quite liked this look, although the foundation seems a bit light for me in pictures. Maybe I tanned since I bought this, which is NC25, or the flash + foundation SPF might have given my face a whitish cast? I don't know, but its not that noticable in real life though so I'm not too bothered.

I also had some problem photographing my look for some reason, I really don't know why the pictures (like eye shots) came out a bit blurry. I used my normal settings with macro on, so I can only think that maybe its the Maybelline eyeshadow I used? Its really soft shimmery and velvety, like probably a mix between MAC lustre and veluxe pearl eyeshadows, so my camera probably got confused with how to deal with it lol!

Anyway, I really love Sun and Moon mineralized blush! It shows as a beautiful peach on me, and it just shimmers pinky-peach with the flash! Lookie at this photo!!

This week was so long for me, TGIF!! We all made it to Friday! :D xx

Well anyway, I hope you enjoyed this short-ish post. Any new looks you've done this week? ♥

LOOK: Smokey Taupe

Hi everyone! This post will be the products in the above picture I got from a blog sale, and some gifts a friend of mine gave me when I went to visit her! ♥

So I got MAC Black Russian and MAC Fly-by-blu pearlglide liners. I really wanted to get these when they were released last year, but somehow I was able to resist. When I saw these at a fellow blogger's blog sale, I just had to have them!! They are so soft and vibrant, they remind me of Urban Decay 24/7 liners in terms of the smoothness in application.

Black Russian is a black with silver sparkles. I bought MAC Night Sky glitter eye pencil last December 2009, which is also a black with silver glitters, but Black Russian is so much easier, softer and smoother to apply!

Fly-by-blu is a navy blue with blue shimmers. It's very soft to apply.

The lovely beauty blogger also included an extra gift with my purchase! Beauty UK Glitter Explosion No.6 is a solution in lilac glitters. I think this is meant to use on the eyelids or as a glitter eye liner, but I felt that it just dries toooo slowly for that purpose. I wouldn't have the patience to wait or to keep fanning my lids for it to dry!

Anyway guys, here are swatches! ♥

MAC Black Russian, MAC Fly-by-blu, Beauty UK Glitter Explosion No.6

I visited one of my friends last weekend and she gave me all this stuff! For no reason at all! She's so sweet :)

I'm so grateful. I can't believe I got this much loot in one go! Have you tried any of these products? And those MAC lashes, I have no idea what they're called. No number! She said she bought them from the MAC store though so they're genuine. I shall post a clearer photo later and maybe you guys can help me work out which ones those are xx

I hope you enjoyed reading this post! ♥

Gifts and Blog Sale Treats

I picked up a few more products from the MAC Too Fabulous collection. That collection is just so pretty! I'm in-love with all the products. I got Naked Liner lip pencil, Sun and Moon mineralized duo and Bubblegum lipstick - the only item I've picked up from Spring Colour Forecast so far!. This post will just be about Naked Liner and Sun and Moon - I'll place Bubblegum in another post! Keep reading for my reviews and swatches! ♥

As I mentioned in my previous post, I initially thought Naked Liner looked terrible on me, but I suppose that was because I used too much. The trick is to use light strokes as these new liners with Too Fabulous are so richly pigmented! I like filling my lips in with this and applying a dark lipgloss on top. I've been using this with Creme Allure dazzleglass creme and it looks very yummy :) I also heard you can use it for the waterline to brighten up the eye as well, but the thought of sharing a lip product with my eyes doesn't appeal to me much. There's a lot of bacteria in your mouth! Maybe if you sanitise the pencil before using that might be a good idea. :)

Here is Naked Liner compared to Oak lip pencil:

You can tell Naked Liner is much lighter and more pinkish toned compared to Oak!

I also got Sun and Moon mineralized blush. I wouldn't have given it a second glance if were not for Muhsine from Bubblegarm and Tali from The Gloss Goss! It's very pretty and wearable. Makes me think of summer!

Some close up swatches of Sun and Moon:

I thought all the mineralized blushes from Too Fabulous were so pretty! Here are swatches of all of them:

Too Virtues, Chic Couple, Sun and Moon, Rhapsody in Two, Bi-Tone, Buddy Up

Did you get anything from MAC Too Fabulous?? ♥

Lip Swatch: MAC Hipster Lipstick

I rarely go shopping for clothes and accessories now since I've been obsessed with makeup. I checked out New Look, Miss Selfridge and Top Shop over the last week at Oxford Street, at different days since I live pretty close to the shopping area. Here's what I picked up! ♥

From New Look, I got these two:

Grey 3/4-sleeve cardigan with baby pink bow prints! It was love at first sight with this one. So cute and feminine ♥ I love dressing up girly!

White and salmon pink scarf with leopard print - This scarf is really pretty. And you can't really tell from the photos but it also has silver thread through some parts that shines when the light hits it! So pretty & eye catching ♥

From Miss Selfridge, I got this scarf~

Baby pink scarf with dark grey skull and rose prints - A mix of girly and punk! Totally my style lol. I love wearing this with my studded black faux-leather jacket! x

From Top Shop, I got these tights!

They're suspender tights with hearts as 'suspenders'! Hot AND cute at the same time. LOVE! ♥

Do you shop more for clothes and accessories or for makeup and skincare?? ♥

Lip Swatch: MAC Pomposity Lipstick

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to share with you a few products I got from First Light Cosmetics. First Light is a new brand of 100% natural cosmetics. The company claims that "products are made entirely from finely crushed minerals, feel weightless on the skin, giving a natural airbrushed finish and a luminosity reminiscent of the first light of day".

I got a two very pretty blushers: Sirocco and Kohilo, and a transparent finishing powder called Air Kiss. Keep reading for my review and swatches!! ♥

When I opened my package, I found my products inside this beautiful exotic pouch!

I wondered what that was about and I found out that First Light helps women in economically disadvantaged parts of the world to develop their own commercial or social enterprises in the hope of empowering them to become economically independent. The pouches were produced by the Mabiniti Centre in Tanzania! That's a good cause isn't it?

I am actually very happy with the products. As far as I can tell, the quality is very good. The products come in sieve containers, and the powders are all very soft and finely milled. The products are unscented, which is a good thing since scented products are more likely cause allergies! They do feel weightless on the skin, are long-lasting, and they don't break me out.

I'm new to using crushed powders and sieves, as I tend to buy pressed powders. Using these can get a bit messy, so what I do is gently shake the container with the lid on, open the container gently, and tap and swirl my brush to pick up the powder on the inside portion of the lid as opposed to getting product straight from the sieve. This helps me control how much product I want. I tap off the excess, and apply the powder as I normally do.

As I mentioned earlier, I got two blushes: Sirocco and Kohilo. Sirocco is a peachy-plum colour with gold glitters that gives me such a beautiful bronzed and peachy glow! Kohilo is a bright blue pink with a silver frost, I usually go for this colour too!

I love these two blushes!! They're very pretty and great for everyday use. Here are swatches on my cheeks:

I also got one transparent finishing powder called Air Kiss. It's a very slightly yellowish white powder that's meant to be sheered out to become transparent so I didn't swatch it anymore. =)

So all in all, I'm super happy with these products and I highly recommend First Light Cosmetics - the blushes are beautiful! I look forward to trying more of their products out.

If you're interested, you can check out their website atwww.firstlightcosmetics.com.

First Light Cosmetics has also been gracious enough to give me a discount code to share with you all! You can get 15% off all items before shipping costs if you put this code First1016 at the checkout. The code is valid until the 8th of April 2010.

So what do you think? Are you curious enough to try these products?? ♥
