Hi everyone! Here are my goodies from the MAC Give Me Liberty of London collection. This collection is a collaboration between MAC and the centuries-old ( I think?) Liberty of London brand, famous for its prints shown on the product packaging. I'm happy I was able to hold back on buying from this collection - I got two of the lipsticks as Back2MAC (MAC's recycling program) and the eyeshadow and blush were purchased. Keep reading to see what I bought, swatches, and comparison swatches! ♥
When I saw this collection, the first thing I was drawn to were the lipsticks. They are gorgeous and vibrant, and come in quite a range of colours - even if there are only 4! I took them to the mirror, sanitised them in alcohol and swatched them - hey I'm a seasoned MAC addict lol. I've been loving lavender lips lately, so I really liked Blooming Lovely, and I could not pass up on a hot pink lipstick like Petals and Peacocks! I thouhght Peachstock was a great colour as well, but I was having problems applying it. It seemed a bit patchy? I really want to pick it up, but I need some tips on how to apply it without looking patchy and yucky. Tips, anyone?? ♥
So I got Petals and Peacocks, which I've also heard to be comparable to MAC Gladiola lipstick (LE) from the Dame Edna for MAC collection. I also have that one, and here is a comparison swatch!
Although they look identical in the tube, they both have different finishes - as you can see in the swatches. Both are really pigmented, but Petals and Peacocks is a creamy amplified finish with a glossy sheen, whereas Gladiola is a creamy but matte colour. I love them both!
I got Blooming Lovely also, which is a lavender colour. It has been compared to Lavender Whip (LE) from the Creamteam collection last year, and here's a comparison swatch!
As you can see from the tube, Blooming Lovely is a lot darker and more pink compared to Lavender Whip, which is a straight up lavender colour. Blooming Lovely is an amplified cream finish and it is definitely more pigmented than Lavender Whip, which is a cremesheen finish. I love both though! :)
Next thing that caught my attention was Prim and Proper blush. When I swatched it, it has decent pigmentation, and the colour was unlike anything I had in my collection. Its like a rosy bronze colour with a sheen, although it is not frosty. I really like it. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of a swatch!
The last thing I got was Birds and Berries eyeshadow. Its a dark blue green with a really pretty turquoise sheen. It was the prettiest eyeshadow of the bunch so I took it. Although, I thought it might be similar to some eyeshadows I already have, so here they are swatched!
I compared Birds and Berries with Grey Range (LE) from the Photo Realism eyeshadow quad, and Love Lace (LE) from the Love Lace collection. You can tell that Birds and Berries has that beautiful sheen that both Grey Range and Love Lace lack. On the pan it looks more similar to Grey Range than Love Lace, however on the swatch, it seems closer to Love Lace than Grey Range. In real life though you can tell that Birds and Berries is more teal than Love Lace, but it doesn't really show in this swatch for some reason. All three are gorgeous veluxe pearl finish eyeshadows. ♥
I already have Summer Rose beauty powder from the Rose Romance collection, and I've been using that quite a bit recently. Sorry I haven't uploaded photos or swatches of that! I'm sure you'll be able to find several online :) xx
So that's my haul everyone! What did you get?? What are your top 3 must-haves from this collection?? And once again, any tips you can share on how to apply Peachstock lipstick?? ♥

nice haul! I looove the look of Birds n Berries - definitely picking that one up
ReplyDeleteI picked up Peachstock and found it to be a little on the brown side for me (NC20-25)so I apply foundation over my lips (just a little) and then use a lip brush to layer the colour on so I can stop before it gets more brown than peach!
ReplyDeleteFab haul hun! This collection it just too cute. I love the look of Petals and Peacocks l/s but don't think I'd be confident enough to wear it. It's such a gorgeous hot pink though xx
ReplyDeleteGreat haul! I'm going to see the collection later. Hope they are not sold out yet!
ReplyDeletelovely, but i managed to resists as i haul too much recently!! ... thanks for comparing the dupe ones too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm ordering online tomorrow. My top three items would have to be Birds and Berries e/s, Ever Hip l/s and English Accents l/g!
I'm still waiting for Colour Forecast, girl, I've got time to decide what I want from this, LOL! Nice haul, I think I'll get Ever Hip l/s and Shell Pearl bpb. Everything else I'd like to see in person!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)
Have a nice day! XO
i love your comparision. that was very helpful. i oonly picked up two lipstick from the collection: blooming lovely, and ever hip. I LOVE everhip, however i find the blooming lovely is a bit too bold. i look sick when i wear it. Is Lavender Whip a permanent colour?? i'm interested in going out to get that.
ReplyDeleteGirl! What a coincidence! I have the same things as you do including Frankly Fresh l/g, Bough Grey and Shell Pearl BP is on it's way.
ReplyDelete@Stefanie- BnB is the most gorgeous colour among the eyeshadows! You should definitely pick it up :)
ReplyDelete@MediterraneanX- Thanks for the tips! I just picked up Peachstock ;)
@Kelly- Yeah, PnP takes a lot of guts to wear! What I actually do now is dot it on top of lip balm on my lips, and spread with my finger to give that hint of pink thats not too bright!
@Ting Ting- Yay! Best of luck to you :) What are you getting??x
ReplyDelete@Sizbelle- Ahh you have so much self-control. I envy you~! :)
@Laura - Glad to help! I'm not a fan of mid-tone corals.. They just don't seem right on me lol. I'd go for nude corals or dark corals, but not corals like Ever Hip :)
@Marce- Wow, you have enough time to decide! Shell Pearl is really pretty, but its a lot more expensive than the blush, which is why I took Prim n proper instead. Shell Pearl reminds me of one of my lighter MSFs too. Have a great day~! x
ReplyDelete@xbbkay- I'm glad you found the comparisons helpful. In real life, lavender lips look pretty nice on me, but in photos they do make me look corpse-like. Maybe you can add a pink-toned gloss on top of Blooming Lovely to make it more wearable? Too bad Lavender Whip was a discontinued limited edition one. Its one of the most sought-after MAC shades!
ReplyDelete@FabDiva20- You have quite a haul there! A lot more than me :) I'd love to get Bough Grey and Shell Pearl if I had more money... :P
ReplyDeleteI didn't get anything from this collection but the packaging is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to get Ever Hip though but I'm saving up for the upcoming collections.
I havent got anything as yet but I liek the look of blooming lovely! Check out my recent post on the liberty of London inspired EOTD:

You should get Bough Grey e/s and Shell Pearl BP while you still can. It's sold out on the US website and so glad that I got my hands on it.
ReplyDelete@XOVINTAGELOVE - Ooh you have some amazing willpower!! :)
ReplyDelete@Imo - I love all the lipsticks I got. Nice look btw! ♥ :)
@FabDiva20- Ahh, I've been trying to convince myself I don't need those lol. Shell Pearl bp reminds me of my Moon River, By Candlelight and Rhapsody in Two MSFs. Though its really pretty though... And Bough Grey is just another grey shade. I have to stop buying eyeshadows until I hit the pan on one of them! :O
OMG *__* it's very very beautiful !
