Hi everyone! I'm so happy to share with you the Vivi Magazine February 2011 edition featuring the sparkly MAC Cham-Pale collection. I was a bit disappointed that they only featured one look using products from this collection, but I hope this is useful somehow! ♥
Hi everyone! I'm so happy to share with you the Vivi Magazine February 2011 edition featuring the colourful MAC Stylishly Yours collection. I was a bit disappointed that they only featured one look using products from this collection, but it is still gorgeous and something I'd like to recreate myself! I hope this is useful somehow! ♥
Merry Christmas Everyone!
This look was inspired by Megan Fox's look in the music video Love The Way You Lie by Eminem and Rihanna. I was watching it earlier today, and I wanted to create a look inspired by hers. In this look, I am using the Urban Decay Naked Palette, products from Inglot, and Eyeko, as well as MAC products. I hope you enjoy this! ♥
Hi everyone, I just took random swatches of these blushes in my collection Margin, Sunbasque and Get Away Bronze (LE) to compare these three, but then I thought before I delete these photos, why not share them with my readers? So in this post I am comparing these three peachy bronze coloured MAC blushes. Margin and Sunbasque are permanent, whereas Get Away Bronze is limited edition from the MAC To The Beach collection released in summer 2010. I hope this post is useful somehow! ♥
I have just seen the reviews and swatches online of the MAC Cham-Pale and Stylishly Yours collections, and I must say I cannot wait until I get to see these products in person! I am very excited about the launches. Cham-Pale looks kind-of blah, and I only want to get one item from it. Stylishly Yours on the other hand is so bright and colourful, and despite this, most of the products seem very wearable! Here are the items on my wishlist:
Hi everyone, I'm so thrilled that my Christmas holiday has begun! Finally a break from work and time to spend with my family. And it is also time to catch up with pending posts!
When I checked out the MAC A Tartan Tale, I was interested in two eyeshadow palettes, namely Dashing Lassies filled with neutral colours, and Beauties Play It Cool which is purple-themed. However, despite the lovely colour combinations, I realised that I had similar colours in my eyeshadow collection, and so I constructed my own palettes with dupes of those colours. Here's a look I did using my version of 'A Dashing Lassies'.
Hello everyone! I'm so excited to share with you my first purchases from the cosmetics company Inglot. I've passed by the Inglot store at Westfield Shopping Centre in London so many times, but I only entered their store yesterday. But once I entered, I was hooked! I was surrounded by so many beauty products, from foundations to blushes, lipsticks, glosses and nail polishes, but what caught me the most were their eyeshadows. They had a ton of colours on a table and my eager fingers immediately started swatching them. The staff seemed wonderful; they were quite helpful and came up to me and asked if I needed anything, without being so.. neurotic about it? I dislike staff that are too eager, but I also don't like those that pretend you're invisible.
Inglot has an amazing Freedom System where you get to choose your own colours and products to place in palettes. But what I loved so much about Inglot was the amazing quality of their products at such affordable prices! I picked an eyeshadow palette with 5 eyeshadows and 1 small handy eyeshadow brush for £18 in total. If I had that money to spend on MAC, I would only be able to get 2 eyeshadows in their pans!
In the Inglot store at Westfield, they organised their eyeshadows by eyeshadow families. I was instantly drawn to the purple-grey set, and started swatching from there. I picked eyeshadows in 444, 454, 501, 420 and 434, and also a 20p brush. I rather wished their products were not named by number, rather if they had their individual names. It would be so much easier to remember! Anyway, keep reading for my reviews and swatches xx
Hi everyone! I have recently ventured into the world of swapping at MakeupAlley.com (aka MUA), which allows you to trade your unloved products that are just collecting dust for something you might love and probably use more! This is also a great way to try products without spending too much money. The gorgeous Natalie from http://nattyngeorge.blogspot.com/ has written comprehensive posts regarding an introduction into MUA and a swap how-to guide. Her posts are very useful resources, so if you're interested in MUA, these are a must-read.
SWAP LIFTER ALERT!
However, even though I took the precautions of swapping with someone with 20+ 100% good feedback, I am sad to admit I have been swap-lifted. She wanted my MAC MSF Natural in Medium Dark in exchange for her MAC 190 brush, which I also wanted. Because I was relatively new with less feedback, I agreed to send my end first. This user also lived in the UK and received my item fairly quickly, but 2 weeks after she received my item I haven't received her end yet. I started to become dubious and checked her user account. Lo and behold, she had 3-4 NEW negative comments where she had swap-lifted other users. I still persevered and emailed her MUA account, however she would keep making excuses. 1 month later she deleted her account entirely.
Her username on MUA was ffion176. She may have made a new account to swap-lift more people, so ladies if you're thinking of swapping with someone, please ensure that who you're swapping with is not her! Here are her details:
62 Matthysens Way
I strongly feel it is very important for my readers to be aware and not be swap-lifted by this same person!
I don't feel bad about invading her privacy by sharing her details, because she has violated my rights to the swap and also did so to several other people. I warned her I would report her as a swap-lifter if she did not fulfil her end of the bargain however she deleted her account instead.
I have not pressed further action yet, because I am just so busy with work which is really a shame. When I find time I hope to do so.
Swapping is fun, but just be careful. I would like to believe I am now more cautious with swaps!
Any thoughts guys? How have your experiences been in MUA?
Hi everyone! I'd like to share with you my staple products and my current daily beauty routine that's working well for me so far. It's very quick to do (takes me 10minutes every morning) and my skin seems happy with it, ie. it doesn't seem to break me out. I hope this is useful somehow! ♥

MAC Refined Golden bronzer, NARS Laguna bronzer
I was finally able to get my hands on this product that's had so many raving reviews in the beauty world; it is NARS Laguna bronzer. Here I am comparing this to my to-go bronzer, which is MAC Refined Golden. Enjoy! x
I did this pretty quick and simple look a few days ago. Here you can also see MAC Cut a Caper lipstick in action! Its not really a unique shade, but its one that I like nonetheless. Keep reading! ♥
I was able to check out the MAC Tartan Tale Collection a couple of weeks ago, and to be honest I was seriously underwhelmed. Looking at the displayer, I was somewhat 'bored', because the colours looked like repromotes and the tartan look didn't really excite me. A few products really caught my eye though, mainly because of the bright beautiful colours. These were My Highland Honey and Her Blooming Cheek blushes, Cut a Caper lipstick, eyeshadows in Glamora Castle and Follow Your Fantasy, Undercurrent Pearlglide Liner and the Dashing Lassies palette . However, after swatching and thinking about them, the only products that came home with me were lipsticks in Cut a Caper and The Faerie Glen, and a blush in Margin from the permanent line. Keep reading for my reviews and swatches! ♥
I was watching the X-factor this weekend, and I was inspired to do this makeup look worn by Cheryl Cole on the Saturday show (Live Show 6). It's a different take on the smokey brown eye look: a thickened brown line on the lower lash line, winging out a bit. It's a great neutral smokey look that's easy to wear and definitely not over the top. I really liked this look on her, and I might say I like it on myself as well. I'm sure anyone can pull this off! :)
In this look I was able to use the Urban Decay Naked palette, MAC Bite of an Apple blush from the Venomous Villains collection, as well as The Faerie Glen lipstick from the recent MAC Tartan Tale collection. I hope you enjoy this look xx
Here's a simple everyday look I did the other day, also using the Bite of an Apple blush from the MAC Venomous Villains collection! Enjoy xx
I have been sent this Liptastik Glossy Lip Pen in the shade Lip Lover from Eyeko, and I am so excited to share my review with you. I was a bit skeptical at first about the lip stick issue because of how I didn't like Barry M's version, but this product proved to be so much better.
Lip Lover is a bright red that screams RETRO!! to me, and I love this look. The colour itself reminds me so much of MAC's Powerhouse lipstick, which I adore. It is well pigmented and glides on your lips like a dream. It does not dry my lips out. The finish itself seems similar to a MAC amplified cream lipstick. One thing that makes this product stand out from the other red lipsticks I've tried however (including MAC) is how it doesn't stain my teeth when I smile! I don't know how it does this, since it is not transfer-resistant at all. This lipstick seems pretty long lasting on too. Like most red lipsticks, it leaves a stain on your lips as the day goes by. If you don't eat your lips like I do, this is sure to last you at least half a day! (without eating meals at least).
Although its in pencil form, you don't need to worry about sharpening it at all. You just need to twist it up to get more product.
I really love this Liptastik pen, and I encourage you to at least try it out. You can purchase it from eyeko.com, and please use my code e11109 for a free gift! It is also available in a rosy pink colour called Loud Mouth, which might also be good to try. I wish eyeko had more colours though, I would love a coral one or a deep vampy red one! ♥
What do you think? Would you like to try this out? ♥
The item featured in this post was provided for review consideration by PR, but as always, this review is honest and my own. ♥
I got these two lovely babies from a blog sale some time ago. They are MAC mineralised eyeshadows in Forest Love and Illusionary/Burning Ambition. They are gorgeous and I'm so happy to get a hold of them! Keep reading for reviews and swatches. ♥
I'm so happy to be sent these products to review by Ecover (thanks Jessica!). Ecover is a company that largely produces ecological cleaning products, but they also have a range of eco-friendly personal care products. I was given the choice of either picking lavender and aloe vera or citrus and orange blossom, but I thought the former was more weather appropriate. I'm really happy with these products, keep reading for my review!
Hello everyone! I picked up this Naked Palette from Urban Decay a couple of months ago, and I only decided to blog about it now after I've used it quite a bit. I really like this palette; when I swatched them at the store I thought blah, neutral, blah - nothing exciting; but boy did I underestimate how versatile and useful these eyeshadows would be. Keep reading for my review and swatches!
Here's another freebie I got with another magazine; the November issue of Elle. I got the Clinique Superbalm Moisturising gloss in Currant. I picked this up because I thought the berry colour would look great for the fall. However, I didn't expect it to be so sheer! It gives a hint of berry on your lips and shine but if colour is what you're looking for, this would not cut it. However, I do like how sheer it is for work purposes. I don't really regret picking this up, but I don't recommend it either. ♥
Hello everyone, I know its been a long time since I've posted a look, and I haven't been updating as much as I used to. It's because I've been really busy lately with uni, and some other extra things, and also partly because I've starting to become lazy somewhat with blogging - I feel like I need a bit of a break! Up until a few weeks ago, blogging started to become a 'chore' for me, and it didn't feel right, and I just wanted that feeling to go away. So now I'm starting this thing where I only blog when I actually want to, not when I feel compelled to do so. And because of that, I do have quite a lot to blog about, which I might space in the next few weeks. A lot of new things I bought and some samples I've been sent. But anyway, enough of my babbling! This post is supposed to be about my look!
I wore this look last Friday, when my bf took me to his 'surprise' (which I guessed the day before!), a date and to watch Disney on Ice - 100 Years of Magic at the O2 arena - which was beautiful by the way! All you Disney buffs would love it ♥ I had just been listening and watching Cheryl Cole's new music video of her single 'Promise This' and I was inspired a bit by her makeup when she wore that red-orange dress. I hope you like it! Keep Reading for what I used and more photos!
I love MAC lip pencils, and I don't really know why. Let me think... they apply easily and are long lasting, and MAC has an huge array of available shades - compared to most brands! I admit that I own quite a few now, and here are the ones which I have recently acquired: Redd, In Synch and Test Pattern. In this post, I will be comparing them to some of my other ones: Brick, Life's a Breeze and Oak!
I got this nail polish from Ciate called Dangerous Affair as a freebie from this month's Marie Claire magazine, and I just love it. It's a deep dark pinky red, which reminds me a lot of MAC's So Scarlet lipstick. The formula of the nail polish itself is amazing - so easy to apply and dries really quickly. The cute packaging is a bonus too! I'm so happy I picked this up. Keep reading for more photos and nail swatches~ ♥
Ciate paint pot in Dangerous Affair - 2 coats!
If this Marie Claire issue is still available in your area, I recommend you pick this magazine up! The nail varnish is perfect for the fall~ ! ♥
Hi everyone! As promised, here is my haul from the MAC Venomous Villains collection, along with my quick reviews and some comparison swatches. Be warned, this is a long and picture-heavy post! Enjoy~ !
Hello everyone! MAC UK hosted their first ever blogger event last night, and I'm so lucky and so happy to have been one of the few invited. I had so much fun! Thank you staff at MAC UK! The event was a preview of the upcoming (to the UK) MAC and Disney collaboration, the Venomous Villains collection. It was great to meet fellow UK beauty bloggers. I was able to speak to Em, Fei, Katie, and Muhsine, and they're all wonderful gals! Do check out their blogs! ♥
I know I said the quads from the MAC Fabulous Felines collection were nothing too special, I couldn't resist taking the Leopard Luxe and Palace Pedigreed eyeshadow quads when I was at the Heathrow airport looking at Duty Free MAC! I was really surprised they still had these quads in stock. The eyeshadows are very wearable and the colours are appropriate for both day and night, so I thought why not take them. Here are my mini-reviews and swatches!
I've recently began to swap at makeupalley.com, and I managed to swap for this beauty! I got Bobbi Brown's Gold Shimmer Brick. I love anything with gold tones so I was really happy to snag this shimmer brick. It's a limited edition one too!
If you're familiar with Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks, they are composed of 5 discrete shades. They are usually not very pigmented and are mainly used as highlighters (although fair skins may be able to use them as blushes!). I like using them as eyeshadows on the lid or highlight, because they are sparkly and make you look glowy. I think Bobbi Brown's Gold shimmer brick makes it to one of my favourites, along with Nectar shimmer brick which is a gorgeous coral one!
The different shades of gold on my yellow-toned skin don't look that much different from each other on swatches, but they are still gorgeous though.
What do you think?? Do you have this shimmer brick? ♥
MAC On the Scene cremesheen glass came out with the MAC In the Groove collection. The cremesheen glass finish is one of my favourite finishes because they just make the lips look luscious and juicy! They are also not sticky.
MAC On the Scene cremesheen glass is a nude colour. Not very opaque, you can see some of my natural lip colour through. It also settles into fine lines (which is a bummer!), but I still like this lipgloss. It looks great on top of nude lipsticks, or to tone down bold lipsticks. It is not a must-have though, but it would be nice to own!
Do you have this lipgloss? What do you think?
After doing a MAC Leopard Luxe sub-collection inspired look, I decided to do a look inspired by the Burmese Beauty sub-collection too. Hope you like it! Keep reading for what I used and more photos! ♥
